Select a QuickTime MOV recording. The tool checks the file before compression begins.
Choose a quality mode or target file size. Export as MP4 for general compatibility, or save the finished video as MOV.
Wait for the finished file-size check, then download your video.
MOV files can use H.264, HEVC/H.265, or professional formats such as ProRes. H.264 is widely supported. HEVC support can vary between browsers, so the tool checks your file first and explains clearly if it cannot be processed.
Choose MP4 for a widely compatible file that is easy to share. Choose MOV if you need the finished video to use the .mov file type. Both options create a new H.264 video for sharing; they do not retain HDR, transparency, or professional editing data from the original.
Use Balanced for a general-purpose export or Smaller File for stronger compression. For sharing limits, choose Target file size. The tool checks the finished file against your chosen limit and explains what to change if it cannot meet it.
Start with Balanced when you want a smaller file without spending time on settings. It is the sensible choice for most clips headed to cloud storage, a website, or a chat. Use Smaller File when the upload limit matters more than fine detail. If a service gives you a hard limit, enter that number in Target file size instead of guessing.
Lowering Max video height is usually the next useful lever. A 720p export is often easier to share than a full-resolution recording, especially for a short phone video. Keep audio on for a recording, tutorial, or conversation; turn it off only when the sound is not part of the clip.
An iPhone MOV file may use H.264 or HEVC/H.265 video. H.264 works in most places. HEVC is more efficient, so changing it to H.264 can make a video easier to share without making it much smaller. The tool checks the file first and explains if your browser cannot process it.
ProRes, HDR color, transparency, and editing data need different handling. This compressor is for making a shareable H.264 video, not for keeping an editing master. Keep the original if you may want to edit, grade, or export the footage again.

Compression works best when the video contains only the part you need. Trim the clip before exporting to remove unused seconds. For a video where sound is not needed, remove the audio track. If the destination is Discord, use the Discord Video Compressor to work from its upload limits.
