Your selected video is processed on your device, not uploaded to an editing server.
Discord Free preset
The default 19MB target is for standard Discord Free uploads. It is practical for gaming clips, short screen recordings, memes, and reaction videos that need to fit below the 20MB attachment limit.
There is no single “best” setting for every clip: duration is the biggest constraint. A short clip can keep more detail at 19MB than a long recording using the same target.
| Clip type | Start with | If the result misses 19MB |
|---|---|---|
| Short gaming clip | 19MB, audio on, Higher quality if detail matters | Try Balanced mode before choosing a smaller file size. |
| Screen recording | 19MB, Balanced mode, audio on | Remove audio if it is not needed, then retry. |
| Long clip | Trim to the moment you want to share first | A shorter source usually preserves more detail than a lower bitrate. |
Size and quality
The first way to make a file smaller while keeping its original shape.
Useful for tight targets, such as changing 1080p footage to 720p.
Best when a clip is too long to fit at an acceptable quality.
A useful option for silent clips or when every megabyte matters.
Troubleshooting
Check the final file size before you download. If it is still too large, change one thing at a time so you can keep as much quality as the clip allows.
Use 19MB for Discord Free or 49MB for Nitro Basic.
It can use a smaller video size when needed, which helps with small file sizes.
Use this only when the sound is not part of the clip.
Trim the video to the moment you need to share.
Use a larger target when your Discord account allows it, or enable Higher quality for a less aggressive export. If the video is still too large, use a shorter original clip instead of repeatedly compressing an already-compressed download.

Yes. MP4 input is supported and the compressor downloads a Discord-friendly MP4. It can also accept supported MOV and WebM files.
Older tutorials may mention 8MB, 10MB, or 25MB. Discord's current Free upload limit is 20MB; choose a smaller custom target if you need one for another destination.
Reducing a video substantially requires trade-offs. Start with the Balanced setting, try a larger target when available, and enable Higher quality when preserving more detail matters more than meeting a very small target.
Longer clips need lower bitrates to fit the same size. Try removing audio, using a larger target, or trim the video first. The result card always checks the actual output size.
